REGLAMENTOS DE PARTICIPACION


OBJETIVOS

Cada año, en septiembre se celebra el mes de la fotografía en la República Dominicana, evento que se denomina PHOTOIMAGEN y que es una iniciativa de la Fundación Imagen 83, Inc.,, con el apoyo de instituciones públicas y privadas. Este encuentro artístico tiene los propósitos de medir el pulso y el desarrollo de la creación fotográfica contemporánea en el país, establecer intercambios con artistas del lente de otras naciones, promover la unidad de fotógrafos y fotógrafas dominicanas y apostar por el desarrollo cultural del pueblo dominicano.

COMITÉ ORGANIZADOR

Se constituye el Comité Organizador de PHOTOIMAGEN 2008, integrado por agentes culturales de las artes visuales dominicanas y por las fotógrafas pertenecientes al colectivo Imagen 83, Inc.

MES DE LA FOTOGRAFIA

PHOTOIMAGEN consiste en distintas exposiciones de fotografía que se desarrollarán durante todo el mes de septiembre de forma simultánea tanto en museos públicos y privados, en galerías y salas de arte, así como en lugares no tradicionales para la exhibición de obras de arte, tales como bares, restaurantes, parques y espacios públicos. A este programa expositivo lo acompañará una serie de actividades educativas y de animación cultural. Eventos similares se celebran periódicamente en otros países como México, España, Estados Unidos, Francia, Ecuador, Cuba y Chile, para sólo citar algunos ejemplos de naciones hermanas.




NORMAS GENERALES DE PARTICIPACIÓN Y SELECCION

PHOTOIMAGEN estará dirigido a todos los fotógrafos y fotógrafas de la República Dominicana y cursará distintas invitaciones para recibir las propuestas de artistas nacionales e internacionales. Como evento expositivo consistirá en una serie de exposiciones individuales y colectivas, que serán escogidas por el Comité de Curadores de esta nueva convocatoria.

TEMÁTICA

En esta edición 2008 la temática girará en torno a lo denominado como Rituales de Identidad. Los artistas del lente podrán someter sus creaciones basadas en la identidad, su construcción y reconocimiento, sus aspectos culturales, sociales, políticos, de género, el hábitat, las migraciones y el desarraigo así como la búsqueda progresiva de una identidad contemporánea. Estos serán algunos de los filos de abordaje que podrán considerar los artistas para esta nueva versión de PHOTOIMAGEN. World potato photography contest focuses on “a global food”
Photographers will highlight central role of the Andean tuber - and of agriculture in general – in the fight against hunger and poverty
Rome, 12 March 2008 – A world photography contest to highlight the role of the potato as a source of food, employment and income in developing countries was launched today by FAO and the United Nations. The contest is being held in conjunction with the UN’s International Year of the Potato (IYP) in 2008.
IYP aims at raising global awareness of the potato’s key contribution to agriculture, the economy and world food security, and at fostering improved potato-based systems to help countries achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
The IYP World Photography Contest, “Focus on a global food”, invites photographers to capture the spirit of the International Year in images that illustrate potato cultivation, processing, trade, marketing, consumption and utilization.
“Potato is the world’s number 4 food crop, after rice, wheat and maize, with annual production of more than 300 million tonnes,” said FAO’s NeBambi Lutaladio, the IYP coordinator. “It is grown in more than 100 countries, from the Andes and China's Yunnan plateau to the subtropical lowlands of India, on the plains of northern Europe and the steppes of the Ukraine. Photographers who explore the world of the potato will find plenty of subject matter.”
Sponsored by Nikon, the IYP photography contest is an opportunity for photographers to showcase previous work or to capture new images that depict the many activities related to this vital crop. The contest has separate categories for professional and amateur photographers, and will accept single digital images or “photo stories” of four to eight related images, in either black-and-white or colour. Participants can submit their digital files by uploading them directly via internet or sending them by normal post on a CD-ROM.
The winning photographs will be chosen by a selection panel that includes some of the world’s leading professionals working in the field of photography. Winners in the professional and amateur categories will be awarded cash prizes totalling some US$11 000 as well as Nikon cameras. The deadline for entries is 1 September 2008.
